Down In Davis

What is going on 'Down in Davis?'

'Down in Davis' is a volunteer effort to activate public spaces in Davis Square with music, art and fun. We are a group of neighborhood volunteers working in partnership with the city of Somerville, generous donors and sponsors, community organizations such as The Somerville Foundation, The Davis Square Merchants Group and Davis Square Village. We love Davis Square and we love nothing more than seeing people from near and far enjoy this beautiful corner of Somerville.

Roots & Rhythm

Our Story & Davis Square History

A Legacy of Sound

Somerville's Davis Square has a rich history as a hub of music and art. Legendary venues like Johnny D's, The Burren and The Somerville Theatre have drawn locals and visitors to see iconic performances by U2, Neil Young, Bruce Springsteen, The Saw Doctors and more. Down in Davis is building on that legacy, bringing the music we are so known for inside our great venues to outside in our public spaces.

Bringing Back the Sights and Sounds

Down in Davis is on a mission to create opportunities for those who've dedicated their life to their art to perform in Statue Park and Davis Square Plaza while also providing an moments of surprise and delight for people passing through the square. Almost ten thousand people go through Davis Square on an average day. We want them to see, hear and feel Davis Square's legacy for art and music while on a stroll, riding by, or driving through our neighborhood.
